Youths initiate discussion with CC on Forest Protection |

 Youth reporters in Svay Chrum district, Svay Rieng province, initiated a discussion with decentralized commune councils about forest protection on September 19, 2007. This discussion took place in accordance with their previous findings, published in Community Information Newsletter, a program of the Open Forum of Cambodia (OFC) that aims to strengthen and promote youth participation in local governance reforms.

The Open Forum of Cambodia (OFC) is a local non governmental organization established at the end of 1994 and we officially notified the Ministry of Interior about our intentions in April 1995 and got permission from the MOI through a letter sent to Director of OFC.
We stated our aims as providing opportunities and resources to develop skills and insights into policy questions in order to provide timely and structured contributions to decision-making in social, political, cultural, and economic in Cambodia and help Cambodians to use their capability in building a stronger civil society in Cambodia.
OFC started the first mission by conducting different seminars to discuss social problems. After that the main activities of the organization are to provide email communication and publication of weekly press review. OFC is the first non governmental organization to provide Internet connectivity in Cambodia in 1994. |
